AVAILABLE SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED:
As our community
still
faces hard times, you may not know where to turn in a crisis situation.
These helpful tips will help you and your families make it through the
temporary hard times that you are facing.
Where to get
help?
If
you are not sure of the resources available in your community or who to
contact, call “Connect to Help” at 211 or 317/926-4357. It is best to
start with calling “Connect to Help” they will give you the most
updated information on what is happening in your community and where
you can receive the services you may need.
What
type programs are helping individuals and families?
- Energy Assistance Program
(EAP): Contact 317/524-6966.
Household
income must be under 150% of Poverty level. You
will need ID, Social Security cards for all in household, proof of
income for all
adults in the household and copies of util-ity bills.Program assists
with light and gas bills only. Community
Action Rep on site for most community organizations. Client must still call
CAGI for appointment.
- Winter
Assistance Fund (WAF): Household
income must be between 150% and 300% poverty level. Need to have ID,
Social Security cards for all in household, proof of income for all
adults in the household and copies of utility bills. Program assist
with light and gas bills only.
- FEMA
Assistance: Approval
guidelines are based off household need and vary
from household to household. Need to have ID, Social Security cards for
all in household, proof of income for all adults in the household, copy
of current lease and copies of utility bills. Program assists with
rental assistance, light, gas and water bills.
- Food
Assistance: Some
food pantries will require more than ID to visit. It is recommended
that you contact any organization that you plan to visit. Contact “Connect to
Help” at 211 or 317/926-4357 for a food pantry near you.
- Citizens
Gas: Universal Savings
program. Up to $100.00. Everyone
will not qualify for these funds. Please contact Citizens gas
for more information at 317/924-3311 (2020
North Meridian Street).
- CERF: Approval
guidelines are based off household needs and vary from household to
household. You will need IDs, Social Security cards for all
in household, proof of income for all
adults in the household, copy of current lease and copies of utility
bills. Program assist with rental assistance, light, gas and water
bills,
transportation needs and possible emergency shelter.
- Church
Organizations: You can
contact local church organizations or the church that you
belong to as they may have funds on hand to assist in times of need.
